Do You Like Liu Yingting" - Talking about the MM7 & Madman's diary

Although the idea of making a series out of "Difficult to Like..." had been brewing for a long time, it was never followed up by a second one, and then I didn't think that the second one would be about Jer Lau - or, to put it this way, I didn't think I would fall in love with him at all, because when I first came across Mirror, I only focused on a few boys. I didn't think I'd fall in love with him, because when I first came to Mirror, I was only interested in a few of the kids, and before the archaeology, I was just in love with everything else, so I couldn't see the advantages.

The first time I heard Jer Lau's voice was when he appeared in a Dear Jane live performance, singing 'Inevitable' and 'Galactic Repairman'. I admit that I didn't appreciate Yoo's voice at the time, and at first I couldn't appreciate 'Diary of a Madman', which was against my normal listening style, and frankly, to paraphrase Jiang Tao, I didn't think you sounded good at first, and I didn't even pay attention to you.

Of course, as time went on, I slowly began to realise how blind I was, how my ears were growing on my head for nothing. But the most striking thing about Jer Lau is not just his amazing vocals, it's much more than that that really impressed me.

I love the uniqueness of his songs.

Although the words and vocals are real things, when put together they are given mysterious power, becoming water, light, wind, a baby, a madman, seemingly returning to nothingness, but in the end there is a perfect answer called 'love'. The swirl of stories and thoughts that never want to be told again...

The wonder of art is that there are a thousand interpretations from a thousand angles, and Jer Lau's songs in particular have such depth, expanding from the individual to the world to the universe. I love his vision. It must be this kind of vision that transcends time and space to make such heart-warming songs. There is no absolute interpretation of every song, but he made me believe in the meaning of 'truth' - what you feel is the answer.

I love his honesty and kindness. Even though these are overused words, I have to say that I love his simplicity.

More than once I saw him speak from his heart in front of the camera, and the one that stood out was when Mo shared that he had heard him share almost his entire life as he got to know Jer Lau. I remember being amazed at the time, as this kind of self-disclosure was difficult for me, even naked, but Jer Lau was so unapologetic and willing to share his true experiences with others.

I have to say that this kind of honesty is a disadvantage in an environment of deception, especially when he is still in the entertainment industry, where several interviews have been taken up by the media for being too honest.

I believe it is much easier to be a "world boy" than to be honest in this place. But I don't think he won't, he just chooses to remain himself. I believe this is some kind of positive stubbornness and principle, and that being kind, humble and sincere is definitely a choice.

After the concert, he posted a picture of himself looking at the sea. Someone asked me at the time, "Don't you think he's packing it in? I shook my head and said I might, but at that time, there was no need. If he wanted to wrap it up, he didn't have to post a time-limited video, he didn't have to say he'd fantasised about the premiere; he didn't have to let people know he was confessing his grief to the sea.

It takes courage to pour out your grief to the sea, and it takes courage to sing to soothe others when you don't know if you're healed. His gentleness is a strength, wider than even the Milky Way, deeper and deeper, taking in the cruelty of the world between breaths.

I love his faith in music. He believed in music with a devotion, a respect and love for music that went far beyond the level of 'like'. And that is how people connect with each other through music.

With his love and sincerity, Jer Lau brings us the most valuable treasures of his heart. He is eager to share every note that can heal him with those who need it. So, he steps on stage and becomes every one of his lyrics and puts his heart and soul into his songs; he opens up live at ig, sometimes simply to connect with everyone who supports him, sometimes to heal the wounds of every soul with his songs.

It is because he believes in music so strongly that he is able to deliver all the emotion and warmth into the hearts of his listeners every time he sings, no matter how happy or sad he is; and it is because of this that his voice is so soothing to the heart. And to add to that, I look back and laugh at my own ignorance and continue to beat up all those who think less of you!

Twenty-nine plus one, thirty years old. May the world cherish him and let this star continue to shine brightly.

Do you like Jer Lau?

Who wouldn't?

I love you, thank you.
