Essay on "The Rules of Parting"

Original : ig@e_is_writing_

🔸【Prequel】

Two or three years ago, the middle-aged man took the initiative to find a demo to fill in the lyrics. He wanted to express his inner depression and asked a series of questions:

"If love is but be happy  I asked if I wanted to ask him to be sad

If love is but for life  You ask for fear of being trapped for life

If love is but sincerely  I asked if I would ask for its loyalty

If love is but be at ease  I'm afraid I'm just asking for its safety

If love is, but please regret this life  Do you want to ask other students?"

The singer who sang helpless, disturbed, and distressed from the perspective of the third body is called Eason Chan, and the composer of the selected demo is called Lin Jiaqian.

A bunch of incomprehensible emotional questions keep swirling in the music, but unfortunately there is no answer, no way out...
The more I listen, the more depressed... This song is called "Yes but beg for love"
It is Eason Chan's work in 2020, and it is also his last Cantonese song. Like "The Rules of Parting", it is also written by Xiao Ke.

Today, when I heard "The Rules of Parting", I felt subjectively that it was the story of "Yes but begging for love". Another singer, Liu Yingting, sang the result of one of the stories from the perspective of the third body.

Even if it is parting, but at least there is a clear answer, it sounds like a feeling of relief and letting go.
(Although many people find the song sad and sad...)

🔸【Landscape painting】

The lyrics of this song are very visual. Xiaoke and Uncle Carl have repeatedly mentioned that this song is a "landscape painting".

Traditional "landscape painting" is not as realistic as western landscape painting. Literati painters combine different scenery according to their own experience and imagination to construct an ideal world.
Each scene contains different memories and metaphors.

The person in the painting is swimming between memory and metaphor... I believe that this "landscape painting" is a world and a dwelling constructed by "you" and "she" together.
The landscape, rain, windows and flowers in the painting all remember the common memory and imagination of "you" and "her". When "you" and "she" are separated, the memories of all elements are cruelly removed one by one. At this time, the mountains are really still mountains, and the water is really just water, but the memories and imaginations of the past are no longer... The "snail house" has become a "former residence", and even the "long and wide" space of the picture is "fallen and shattered"... Only "a bunch of messy hair" is left behind, returning to reality...

The most painful part is the habit of sharing "you" and "she" in every moving picture in life, even if I find the poignant beauty of the parting picture:
"Shadows meet and grow together
How beautiful the silhouettes are everywhere

Now I can't share with my heart and joy like in the past, I can only sing it to "her" through Liu Yingting's moving voice...

🔸【Women's rules and men's rules】
There are already many people on the Internet interpreting the meaning of "rules".
In ancient times, there was a concept of "women's rules and men's rules". It is said that Fuxi and Nuwa created the world with the "rules" of drawing circles and the "rules" of drawing squares. From a moral point of view, men follow the right way, restrain themselves and be careful not to make mistakes. ; Women follow the way of harmony, be patient and tolerant in everything, and try their best to maintain the happiness of the two-person family...
Why don't lovers build their little world out of their commitment, trust and memory?
Looking back now, maybe "Fuxi Nuwa's Rules and Regulations" was also inspired by the quarrels and clutches of countless lovers? 😏
